Odour Assessments
Airlabs Environmental has provided an odour testing service since 1995. We have invested heavily over the past 3 years in enhancing our odour assessment capabilities. This has included the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment for the chemical speciation of odours and the co-establishment of an odour research facility at the Central Queensland University in Gladstone.

We now offer the most comprehensive odour assessment capabilities of any company in Australia.
We are experienced in:
- Determination of odour concentration, intensity & hedonic tone by AS & VDI methods.
- Chemical speciation of odour by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS) and Proton Transfer Reaction-Mass Spectrometry (PTR-MS).
Our specialised sampling equipment includes dilution probes and flux hoods for the sampling of high moisture and area sources respectively. We also have a portable dynamic olfactometer for performing on-site analysis of odours.
Our PTR-MS, in conjunction with traditional methods such as GC- MS, has proven very successful in chemically speciating odours at alumina refineries, waste water treatment facilities, landfills and pulp & paper plants.
